What is invisible mending?

Fabrics are typically woven or knitted, and when a hole occurs, it often results from broken fibers pulling apart. During the meticulous process of invisible mending, we repurpose threads from other areas of the garment. One fiber at a time, we reweave or reknit these threads into the hole, effectively concealing any damage. This intricate work demands dedication, patience, and extensive experience. For most natural fibers, achieving an invisible result is possible.

  • Unfortunately, fabrics are not all created equall. Some fabrics such as silk and synthetic fibers cannot be invisibly mended. In that case, we will perform "darning", which repairs the damage and makes the area strong again, but it will be visible.

  • Mending typically takes between 10 days to 2 weeks plus shipping. If you need something urgently, please let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

  • We are currently an online business. Please post your garment to us at our PO Box and we will post it back to you once complete.

  • We currently use Australia Post. A typical satchell is from $15 to $25 dollars. If you'd like to add extra insurance, we recommend adding $25 for up to $500 of cover.

  • If you are not happy with your mending, please let us know as soon as possible. Keep in mind, once the fabric is damaged, it is not in the same state as it was when it was new. Some fabrics will become stronger after mending, and some will be more prone to damage in the future. We'll let you know what to expect with different types of repair. Further wear and tear of a garment will incur new charges to mend.
